New to The Letterbug office

I don't know his name, or where he came from, but I have a new little buddy here in The Letterbug office...

I'm not sure how much bugs talk to one another, but it seems that word must be getting around...

Another Letterbug

The Letterbug: the thinking bug's workplace of choice!

Dot's Giggle Spot #6

Oh dear...

Had the author of this headline stepped away from his work for an hour (or ideally 24 hours), he probably would have noticed that something was up.

Perhaps time was too precious, or perhaps he was so glad to have finished his article that he was simply busting to submit it. Either way, I bet he wished he could turn back the clock once he saw the headline printed in black and white!

We have all been there - we all make mistakes. The trick is to allow yourself the best opportunity to spot any mistakes before a document leaves your hands.

Go for a walk, have a coffee, weed the garden, talk to the dog, salute the sun - it doesn't matter. Just create some space between you and your writing. You will come back to it with fresh eyes, and be able to edit so much more effectively. Amen.

By the way, where does Dot get this stuff from??!

BUG BITS - Tom and Molly

Working on web copy can be SO much fun, especially when you have a brand as pretty as Tom & Molly to write about. Imagine giving names to a whole range of beautiful twirly whirly Tom & Molly skirts?? As the only female in my household this project was almost considered therapy!!

Here's a snippet of Tom and Molly's 'About Us' page:

For more information about Tom & Molly, please click here.

It was such a joy to work with the gorgeous Kate from Tom & Molly. With a great product range and a wonderful outlook, Tom & Molly is destined for great things.

BUG BITS - Habitat Baby

Just before Christmas I worked on a media kit with Carla at Habitat Baby and Prue at Gigi & Lulu. It was a fun project - Carla's quilts and bedding are just SO beautiful.

And stylish.

And stylishly beautiful. And beautifully stylish!

For the media kit I wrote a bio page and a press release about Carla and Habitat Baby. Here is a snippety-snip from the bio page:

For more information about Habitat Baby you can visit www.habitatbaby.com.au.

To see the finished media kit at the Gigi & Lulu website click here. You want to see it, I promise - it really is too cute for words.

Copywriting is such a joy with clients like Habitat Baby to be inspired by. Thanks Carla!!

BUG BITS - Cheeky Little Soles

I don't know about you, but I will go a long way to get my hands on a comfortable pair of shoes. Of course I have a few pairs of ridiculously uncomfortable but super cool cat shoes in amongst my collection, but they now collect dust most of the time. My feet recently leapt (!!) to attention, when I met and began working with the ever-sparkling Lisa Koba from Cheeky Little Soles.

Over the past few months Lisa and I have had a great time working on various Cheeky Little Soles projects, and we're both proud of the results. Whilst much of what we've been working on is yet to be launched, here is a sneaky peek at the Cheeky Little Soles winter brochure for 2010:

Those little polar boots!!! If only they came in adult sizes... I know I've never owned a pair of silver polar boots, but I'm pretty sure I'd like them a LOT!

Sigh...

Dot's Giggle Spot #5

Hmmm, Dot suspects that the author of this coupon might have been trying to be funny - but this can't be confirmed for sure...

Hee hee!!
This advert shows us why we should write, wait, re-read, and THEN use our copy.
You might know what you're trying to say, but sometimes it doesn't come across the way it was intended.
Try to imagine you are the target audience when you re-read your work. Sometimes it will stand up to your scrutiny, and sometimes it might just make you giggle...
